Teleconference "Copyright Issues Online"

On Thursday, February 20th, Educational Technology Services and the Distance Learning Committee will be sponsoring the Teleconference "Copyright Issues Online" produced by Dallas/PBS Adult Learning Service.

Knowing when permissions are not required for the use of copyrighted material can save faculty and administrators a great deal of time and money. Using scenarios based on real-world situations, key experts in copyright law for higher education -- including Georgia Harper from the University of Texas -- will analyze issues such as: how fair use applies to today's digital environments, elements of a good institutional copyright policy, how to get information on copyright policy into the hands of those who need it most -- faculty and students, why the Copyright Clearance Center and other such organizations are valuable, and why an institution's permission process should be a central part of its administration. Dr. Bartkovich will introduce the program and following the telecast Diane Cecero will conduct a brief wraparound session.

TIME: 2:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

LOCATION: Room 3-172

If you are available and would like to attend, please RSVP by Tuesday, February 18th to Cheryl Confarotta either via e-mail at cconfarotta@monroecc.edu or by telephone at extension 3017.

For those unable to attend the teleconference, a video copy of the teleconference will be available for a one-month period in the Brighton Library on Reserve following the teleconference. For those at the Damon City Campus interested in viewing the videotape of the teleconference, please contact the DCC Library and arrangements will be made for the video to be shipped from the Brighton Library to the DCC Library for pickup.
