Paralegal Program Garners ABA Approval

The American Bar Association gave its approval recently to the Paralegal Studies Professional Certificate Program at Monroe Community College, adding credibility to the program.

The American Bar Association has approved paralegal education programs since 1975. To be approved, a program must meet standards relating to curriculum and academic policies, faculty and program direction, admissions standards and practices, and other areas. Programs seeking approval must submit a detailed self-evaluation report with supporting documents and are visited by an evaluation team. Approval is granted for a period of seven years. MCC’s post-degree program, which began in 1998, requires a bachelor’s degree or an associate’s with experience in a law-related field.
