Solar Thermal Technology Certificate & Sport Management, A.S., approved by New York State Education Department

The College received notification from the New York State Education Department  for registration of two new programs, Solar Thermal Technology Certificate, and Sport Management, A.S. beginning fall 2012.

The Solar Thermal Technology certificate , HEGIS code 5317, was developed to meet the needs of the emerging sector within the HVAC/R Industry as an alternative to traditional fossil-fuel based heating systems.  As fossil-fuel prices continue to rise and resources decrease, solar thermal systems will continue to increase along with demand in related “Green Skills” and sustainable initiatives.

Sport Management A. S. (HEGIS code 5299.30) is a currently popular and growing field (U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Handbook, 2008-09). Sport Management had established itself as a separate sub-discipline of Sport and Physical Education with unique requirements. SUNY Brockport and Cortland has responded by creating a discrete major in Sport Management as have many other college and universities. In order to best prepare our students for transfer we must match the curricular changes of other institutions. Current students in the PE01 and other programs at MCC will be interested as well as potential students in high school, or those currently in a career change or who are unemployed.

The New York State Education Department approved these programs after the College catalog was published.  You can review these new programs on the web at: Solar Thermal Technology Certificate:
