Hollywood on the Genesee: Rochester's Film Connections

The Leroy V. Good Library (Brighton campus) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a lecture Wednesday, March 7, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Associate Professor Rick Squires, Collection Development Librarian in our own MCC Libraries, will be speaking on notable Rochester film connections in “Hollywood on the Genesee.” The lecture will be located on the 4th floor of the library, outside of room 2-452.

Rick Squires is a life-long resident of Rochester and was a charter member of The Friends of Mt. Hope Cemetery in 1979, where he and his friends made several amateur films.  In addition to graveyards and local history, he’s also a film buff and collector (specializing in the career of horror star Vincent Price), as well as an author.  During the late 1970s and early 80s, he frequently haunted the George Eastman House’s Dryden Theater and was privileged to know film historian and curator James Card, who first opened his eyes to the strong connection between Rochester and film history.
