New Programs: English A.A. and Philosophy A.A.

The College has received notification of the registration of two (2) new programs by the New York State Education Department for Fall 2016:

English, A.A. Degree (HEGIS Code 5615)
The English degree program provides students with a variety of literature courses for preparation in careers such as business, communication and media arts, law, the teaching of English, and all careers that require excellent communication and writing skills. The curriculum balances liberal art studies with a heavy concentration on literature, as well as more current theme-based courses, providing analytical and critical thinking skills in order to examine literature as the human experience.

Philosophy, A.A. Degree (HEGIS Code 5649)
The Philosophy degree program provides students with an introduction to philosophy as preparation for a variety of professions such as college level teaching, law, writing, and human resources management. The curriculum balances background in the humanities with introductory courses in philosophy. The Philosophy degree incorporates the cross-cultural study of religion with central philosophical questions of religious meaning, the existence of God, and ethics. The Philosophy capstone course, Democracy and Human Rights in Domestic and International Contexts, introduces students to problems of tolerance in a global society.
