TCC Faculty Inquiry Group on Assessment: Fall 2013

The Teaching & Creativity Center (TCC) is excited to announce our Faculty Inquiry Groups (FIGs) for the 2013-2014 academic year.  A FIG is a group of faculty members from different disciplines that come together with the goal of exploring a specific pedagogical issue.  During the semester, members will meet 4-5 times to discuss current research, develop new strategies and techniques, and work together to improve teaching and learning.  FIGs are faculty-driven and provide a supportive environment for exchanging ideas.  In addition to two FIGs we launched last month (Online Teaching & Learning; The Flipped Classroom) we are pleased to launch two more in the coming weeks.  Today’s announcement focuses on our Assessment FIG.  We will post another notice shortly about our FIG on Undergraduate Research, Scholarly Inquiry, & Creative Activity (“URSICA”).

FIG: Assessment

Leaders: Renee Rigoni & Michael Heel; please contact Renee to register or for additional information by Wednesday, Oct 9: HYPERLINK "mailto:rrigoni@monroecc.edu".

We’ve all been doing assessment for the past ten years, but what does it all mean?  How does assessment relate to the everyday work of faculty members and departments?  To teaching?  To learning?  To curriculum?  Join the 2013-14 Faculty Inquiry Group on Assessment, and explore how assessment can help us improve teaching, learning, curriculum, and MCC’s educational environment.  Take advantage of this opportunity for college-wide service and collaborative engagement with your colleagues.
