Alumni from MCC Upward Bound Reunite at Luncheon

On Thursday, January 5th, MCC Upward Bound (UB) held a luncheon for sixteen former students to get formal feedback on their experience in the program in an effort to enhance the effectiveness of the program. The alumni split into discussion groups and reflected on how UB staff can better serve current students and get them ready for college. Many alumni stated that the tutoring, workshops on financial aid, and college tours were very helpful for their transition out of high school into college. They were grateful for the exposure to different cultural and collegiate settings because it allowed them to figure out which community best supported their needs as young adults and students. They also suggested getting more tutors with a diverse knowledge of their subject. Overall, the formal luncheon was more productive than previous alumni contact. It was a positive reunion for alumni and UB staff.
