On November 5th, five students from MCC’s Upward Bound traveled to Adirondack Queensbury, NY, to compete in the 5th Annual Trio Scholar’s Bowl. The students Khaos Gray, Shayla Burns, Suna Awad, Zipporah Ross, Mohogany Blair were chaperoned by Alice Gray.
Scholars Bowl is an academic-based competition that quizzes teams on a range of math, science, history, and related areas of knowledge. The Scholars Bowl team is typically comprised of four players. Though they did not rank in the competition, the MCC Upward Bound team had a great experience interacting with other Upward Bound Scholars from Genesee CC, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Plattsburg, SUNY Canton, Mohawk Valley CC, Fulton Montgomery and SUNY Adirondack. MCC Upward Bound hopes to host the Bowl in the future.
