Anthropology students embark on photo portfolio of storefront churches

"Holy of Holy, Mighty, Mighty Deliverance Church" is the name of one of Rochester's poor urban churches being researched this semester by MCC anthropology students in Professor David Day's "Human Religious Experience" class. After reading "How the Other Half Worships," a new volume of photos and text by Camilo Vergara about these so-called "storefront" churches in other cities, Day realized that a similar photographic portfolio in our city had not been done. It will complement his students' recent work on other minority faiths for the Rochester Pluralism Project. Day's project this semester coincides with publication of a short "End Paper" by Vergara in The Chronicle of Higher Education's Chronicle Review, section B, February 3, 2006.  To view the Project's work to date and to link to the Harvard Pluralism Project, go to "https://www.monroecc.edu/go/pluralism"www.monroecc.edu/go/pluralism.
