MCC Announces New, Expanded Health Plan for Students

Student access to affordable health care supports the health of the entire college community. MCC is, therefore, pleased to announce the rollout of a new and expanded health insurance plan for students effective September 1, 2010.  The new plan was developed in response to student concerns about accessing affordable health care and the significant financial burden related to receiving services.

The insurance plan allows students to receive health care in case of illness and injury, and is expected to promote student completion and retention.  The college has worked with AJ Flood and Companies to develop a cost-effective student insurance plan for $120 per year.  The plan will be required for students taking 9 or more credit hours,
students enrolled in health-related clinical courses and international students. Like other MCC fees, the health fee can be paid for through financial aid.  International students will be charged an additional $5 fee for expatriation and medical evacuation insurance.

We are very enthusiastic about the new student health plan and believe it will be a great benefit to students, staff and faculty in building a healthy college community.
