The Liberal Arts Divison, the Global Education and International Services Office, and the World Languages and Cultures Department cordially invite you to attend the screening of the short film “Donde caen las hojas” (Where Leaves Fall), and to meet Ms. Alicia Albares, the screenwriter and director, who will introduce the film and answer questions from the audience.

Date: Friday, April 15th, 2016

Location: Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center, Monroe A

Time: 12:00 – 12:50 PM

Film Synopsis: Eva, a devastated woman who is suffering through her daughter’s premature death, receives a call she didn’t expect: her mom, Ana, whom she has not seen in years, is dying. In that cold hospital room where Ana is kept alive with machines, Eva has to face the idea of losing her mother and never have her questions answered. But Carlos shows her that there are different ways to communicate, and death can be seen from a different point of view.

“Donde caen las hojas” is in Spanish with English subtitles, and its duration is approximately 18 minutes.

Alicia Albares was born in Madrid, Spain in July 1984. Since she was a little girl, she loved reading, and started writing her own stories at a very early age. Her tales won a lot of awards, and later cinema became her goal and passion. She majored in Communications at the Complutense University in Madrid, while working on her own projects. She has worked in many films as third assistant director and production assistant. Because of that, although very young, she has already gained a great deal of experience in film making.
