Chubby Checker, born Ernest Evans on October 3, 1941 in Spring Gulley, South Carolina, was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ernest’s boss in a produce market nicknamed him Chubby and it was Dick Clark’s wife who tagged on the Checker when they met in a recording studio. In September 2008, “The Twist” topped Billboard’s list of most popular songs since the list began in 1958. Happy Birthday Chubby!
World Teachers' Day, held annually on 5 October since 1994, commemorates teachers’ organizations worldwide. Its aim is to mobilize support for teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generations will continue to be met by teachers. According to UNESCO, World Teachers' Day represents a significant token of the awareness, understanding and appreciation displayed for the vital contribution that teachers make to education and development. On World Teachers’ Day, teachers are celebrated across the world, in all countries, towns and villages.
