Great Service Learning Success

Shahin Monshipour, Anthropology/History/Political Science/Sociology, has been the curatorial consultant for an art and culture show held at the special gallery of the Arts and Cultural Council of Rochester. It started on March 5 and will end on March 27. The project was entitled "Nowruz, Persian New Year" and Monshipour involved a number of service-learning students from her Sociology class and Marji Crum's Graphic Art class in this event. A significant number of other MCC American, International and African-American students with their families, participated in the special receptions at the gallery as well.

The ACCR has announced a great turn out for this show stating that by Friday the 20th, a total of 490 people from a widest range of ethnicities, interests and backgrounds in our community had attended the show,  learned about Persian history, society,  and culture and many have provided feedback educational value of this event for the Community at large.

The exhibit will end this Friday, March 27. Monshipour wishes to thank all MCC students, and other members of the MCC family who have so far participated and made the experience a memorable one for her and for our MCC students.
