The Draft, the Law, and You
How likely is a military draft and what will your options be?

Presented by Bill Galvin
Center on Conscience and War in Washington, D.C.

Friday, September 30
College Hour (noon to 1 pm)
Bldg 8 Room 300

Bill Galvin has decades of experience working with conscientious objectors through the Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors and the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship.  He coordinates and trains military counselors, lobbies for the end of registration and Selective Service, and works with immigration attorneys and others on asylum and related issues.

The Center on Conscience and War, formerly the National Inter-religious Service Board for Conscientious Objectors, was formed in 1940 by an association of religious bodies.  CCW works to defend and extend the rights of conscientious objectors.  The Center is committed to supporting all those who question participation in war, whether they are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, documented or undocumented immigrants--or citizens of other countries.

Bill Galvin also will present a free workshop at MCC for Draft Counselors / Conscientious Objectors Friday evening at 7:00, and Saturday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.  Contact Judi Salsburg Taylor at 292-3275 or "mailto:jsalsburg@monroecc.edu" \\t "_blank" jsalsburg@monroecc.edu for more information.

This event, as well as the workshop, is sponsored by MCC Educators for Global Awareness (MEGA)
