News from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting


The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting in the Board Room, Spina Administration Building on the Brighton Campus on Monday, October 6 and took the following actions:

1.            Accepted the Interim Financial Reports as of July 31, 2014.

2.            Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the month of July, 2014.

3.            Authorized the transfer of funds totaling $230,087.

4.            Approved the appointment of Matthew O'Connor as Assistant Vice President, Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services.

5.            Approved leave for professional advancement in accordance with Article 13 of the contractual agreement between Monroe Community College and the Faculty Association for the period of one-half year (Spring 2015) for Angelique Stevens, English/Philosophy.

6.            Approved an Information and Network Technology, A.A.S. degree, subject to the approval by the State University of New York.

7.            Approved a Liberal Arts and Sciences: Physics, A.S. degree, subject to the approval by the State University of New York.

8.            Approved a Fire Protection Technology, A.S. degree, subject to the approval by the State University of New York.

9.            Accepted an amendment to the 2014-2015 academic calendar to change the start date for Intersession to Monday, January 5, 2015.

10.        Accepted an amendment to the 2015-2016 academic calendar to indicate that the College will be closed on Veterans Day.

11.        Conducted an Executive Session pursuant to Public Officers Law §105, subsection (f).


The Board heard presentations from President Kress on enrollment; from Vice President Oldham on measuring middle skills occupational gaps in Rochester; from MCC Foundation Chair Dan Burns on Scholarships Online, the upcoming Salute to Excellence and other Foundation initiatives; from Faculty Senate President Mark Ernsthausen on Senate initiatives; and Jodee Biller, representing the Support Staff Professional Development and Planning Committee, on its recent professional development initiatives.
