Students increase their chances of success in reading-intensive courses when they enroll in REA 100


Students increase their chances of success in reading-intensive courses when they enroll in REA 100, Reading and Thinking in the Disciplines, where they will be:

·         Reading and annotating assigned texts
·         Thinking deeply about the concepts and approaches in the discipline
·         Engaging in meaningful academic discourse
·         Presenting on each chapter’s learning objectives
·         Creating outlines and other graphic organizers of course content
·         Summarizing key ideas in a particular field of study
·         Applying cognitive and metacognitive strategies that will transfer to other courses
·         Earning 3 general-elective credits

·         And more! 

9 sections of REA 100 are being offered for Spring 2014:

Six sections on the Brighton Campus

Reading and Thinking in Psychology, REA 100-002 (#30259) is a full-semester course or REA 100-003 (#30261) starts in week 5.  Students should co-enroll in any section of PSY 101.  

Reading and Thinking in English, REA 100-004 (#30264) is a full semester offering, REA 100-001 (#30257) starts in week 3, and REA 100-005 (#30265) starts in week 5.  Students should co-enroll in any section of ENG 101.

Reading and Thinking in History, REA 100-008 (#30331), for students enrolled in any 100-level history course for this full semester course offering.   

One section at the Damon City Campus

REA 100-CC1 (#30260), Reading and Thinking in Psychology.  Students must be co-enrolled in any section of PSY 101. 

Two Learning Communities at Brighton

REA 100-007 (#30258), Reading and Thinking in Psychology, linked with PSY 101-007 (#20669).  All students must enroll in both sections.

REA 100-013 (#30263), Reading and Thinking in Mathematics, linked with MTH 098-013 (#21217).  All students must enroll in both sections.
