AAWCC/NILD Welcomes New Women Employees and Honors Members at Spring Open House

Members of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) and National Institute for Leadership Development (NILD) added a special ingredient to their annual Spring Open House that traditionally welcomes new female employees and guests.  On behalf of the MCC Chapter of AAWCC, Valarie Avalone, President, presented Betty Smith, Counseling and Advising, with the first “Outstanding Woman Recognition Award” for her involvement with enhancing women in the college and our community.  When given her award, Betty “thanked” everyone but said “I have the easy part, the women I encourage, have the difficult part.” – “I Love What I do!”

Open Houses are held in the Fall and Spring and are hosted and sponsored by VP Glocker and VP Salvador.  The main purpose is to develop communication among members and to welcome, promote and educate new female employees to AAWCC and NILD.

Pictures below are of some of our “first” time attendees and Betty Smith and other AAWCC members.
