America's College Promise

During his 2015 State of the Union address, President Obama unveiled America’s College Promise, to make 2 years of a community college education free for responsible students throughout the nation. America’s College Promise has ignited an unprecedented conversation about the role of community colleges in our nation’s education system and workforce.

President Obama recently announced the independent creation of the College Promise Campaign along with the College Promise Advisory Board. Led by Chair Dr. Jill Biden, the College Promise Campaign is working with various organizations to build momentum for the idea of free community college by highlighting programs that already provide free community college, and recruiting more states and communities to do likewise.

Part of this momentum involves the launch of a grassroots awareness movement called “Heads Up.”  The Heads Up movement is working to create a culture that celebrates community colleges, giving students, faculty, business leaders, elected officials, families, and friends the tools they need to spread the word about the value and impact of community colleges on the future of America.

Come learn more about America’s College Promise and Heads Up on Thursday, October 29 from 11:30am-1:30pm in the Flynn Campus Center Atrium.

We’ll have the information you need to spread the word about the value and impact of community colleges. It is our hope that sharing this information will allow you to engage in the national dialogue about the importance of community colleges to the future of the country.
