Our next Community Fridays for a Cause is Friday, November 7, 2014.
Most of us know someone who has served our country defending the freedoms that we enjoy every day. Without our military’s contribution to our country, we would not have the educational choices that we have. There are approximately 1,000 veterans attending MCC each year. Many of our staff members have served and have family and friends that are still serving.
The Veterans Outreach Center will be the recipient of our November donations. The Center, founded locally in 1973 by returning Vietnam veterans, remains anchored in our community and offers a comprehensive portfolio of support services designed to meet the needs of veterans and their families. Veterans are assisted by accredited veterans benefit counselors, comprehensive employment and job training counselors, as well as education benefit counseling, housing and financial counseling, and individual and family counseling. They help veterans to achieve their goals and realize their full potential. Through the generosity of our community, all these services are provided free of charge.
Show your support and gratitude for the Veterans Outreach Center and MCC’s commitment to the community by making a generous donation, in exchange for the opportunity to dress casually. Casual dress can be defined in a variety of ways, please check with your department leadership to define parameters acceptable for your office. We encourage MCC gear and school colors whenever appropriate.
Donations will be collected in each department and donation envelopes are being delivered. All checks should be made out to the Veterans Outreach Center. Please bring the donation envelopes to Jodee Biller in the Controller’s Office, 6-110 by 4:00 pm on Friday. If you are not located at the Brighton Campus, please call extension 2104 to make arrangements for the envelopes to be delivered to the Brighton Campus.
