Faculty Senate Bylaws Vote

The Faculty Senate is undertaking a full review of all Bylaws and Resolutions, consistent with the College's undertaking to conduct regular review of MCC's policies, procedures, and protocols.

The Nominations, Elections, and Governance (NEG) Committee of the Faculty Senate hosted open forums on March 6 and 7, 2018 at the Brighton and Downtown campuses, and reviewed its proposals on March 15, 2018 with the Faculty Senate for its support to move the vote forward to the faculty.

NEG is pleased to present its proposals for the following sections of the Faculty Senate Bylaws:

  • "Rationale" -- proposal to amend
  • Articles I through III -- proposal to ratify as written; no changes recommended
  • Article IV -- proposal to amend

Attached is the original wording of all sections of the Bylaws listed above, along with the proposed new wording and the mark-up version that documents the differences between the current and proposed Bylaws. Explanatory notes are included as well.

Voting on this proposal is expected to commence on Monday, April 16, 2018. Eligible voters will receive electronic ballots via email, and will have 10 working days to cast their votes. As any proposed changes to the Bylaws requires 2/3 approval of those voting, we seek strong engagement from the faculty on this matter.

Questions about any of the appended documents, or on the process followed that generated the proposal, can be directed to Michael Heel, NEG chair (mheel@monroecc.edu <mailto:mheel@monroecc.edu> ).
