Choosing Civility – A College-Wide Read

In conjunction with MCC’s Visiting Scholar Program featuring Dr. P.M. Forni’s visit on October 19 and 20, President Kress and Dr. Salvador are encouraging the MCC community to participate in an all-college read on the topic of civility.  Using Dr. Forni’s book, Choosing Civility,  it is their hope to encourage and further the college discussion on creating a culture of courtesy and civility in support of learning.

Beginning Monday, September 13, the Office of Student Life and Leadership Development (3-126) and the Damon Campus Center (5-251) will be handing out these free books to faculty and staff when they present their MCC ID.

On Tuesday, October 19, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. in Monroe A and B of the R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center, Dr. Forni will present a workshop that focuses on strategies on handling rude behavior in the classroom, hallways, etc. Dr. Forni will then appear at 7:00 p.m. in the Theatre for a college and community-wide presentation.

On Wednesday, October 20, at noon in 4-151, Dr. Forni will bring his civility dialogue to the Damon City Campus.  Dr. Forni will then return to the Brighton Campus at 7:00 p.m. in the Theatre for a college and community-wide presentation.
