The Sixth Act Hosts "If All of MCC Read THE WHALE" This Friday, November 7!

The Sixth Act is hosting a special event this Friday, November 7, from 12-12:50 PM, in 8-200, focusing on Sam Hunter’s emotional play THE WHALE. After a brief introduction to the play’s plot and themes, students from MCC’s Theatre Program will perform a short scene, followed by a facilitated discussion. We hope to bring together students from multiple disciplines to talk about mortality, obesity, disability, co-dependency, caregiving, religion, scripture, youth culture, writing, on-line education/communication, MOBY DICK, Jonah and the whale, family, sexuality, divorce, and anything else that this provocative and compassionate play evokes.

If you’d like a teaching packet to help you prepare yourself and/or your students, please contact Angelique Stevens at <mailto:astevens@monroecc.edu>. And, remember that Sam Hunter himself will visit MCC in the spring, so we can continue our conversation then!
