January Wellness Discounts and Programs: SAVE THE DATE!

As we begin to plan for a healthy 2016, many of us look to set goals to improve or maintain our health status.  Some ideas for healthy goal setting may include:

*         Weight loss, lowering blood pressure, blood sugar and/or cholesterol, exercising more, eating healthier, drinking more water, reducing stress, updating immunizations, getting healthy check ups, quitting or reducing such things as smoking, drinking, gambling, certain foods, and getting your finances in order.

All of these goals may be influenced by stress, diet and exercise.  To help get 2016 off to a great start, please consider joining the Wellness Council for their January programs:

*         Simple chair and desk exercises presented by Meg LeBeau, Tuesday January 19, 12 – 12:40pm in the Brighton Room.

*         Cook Without a Book, ideas for making quick and easy winter soups, presented by Michelle Bartell, Chair of the Hospitality Department, Wednesday January 20, 12 – 1pm, Hospitality Lab 3-140.

*         Excellus Winter Activities Presentation: Snowshoeing, Cross Country Skiing, Ice Skating, presented Thursday January 21, Noon – 1pm in the Brighton Room.

Don’t want to wait to get started? Check out some of the adult and family-friendly activities and discounts offered by our neighbor at the Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex:

*         Try Broomball for Free Event @ Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex, January 9, 2016, 3 – 4pm, equipment provided.  This is a co-ed adult event (18+).   Broomball is a cross between ice hockey and soccer, it is played on ice (with shoes) and requires no experience to get started.  Players use a broom shaped stick, and instead of a hockey puck, the game is played with a large ball.  For more information go to: https://www.billgraysiceplex.com/broomball.html. If this is the activity for you, Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex offers a co-ed/rec division league.  MCC students, faculty, and staff receive a 15% discount on registration!

*         Looking for something a little less competitive?  MCC students, faculty and staff receive a 50% discount on Public Skate admission!  For more information go to: https://www.billgraysiceplex.com/public-skating.html.

Watch for more employee health programs and discounts in 2016!
