Audioconference: Essential Requirements for Students With Disabilities

ETS and the Counseling Advising Center will co-host the Thompson Interactive audioconference entitled "Essential Requirements for Students with Disabilities" on Wednesday, May 19 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. in the Third Floor Conference Room.

Summary:  When determining appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities, both the disability-related limitations and the integrity of the curriculum must be considered. This balance can be especially difficult when reviewing requests for course substitutions or assessing the appropriateness of technical standards in a course of study that includes practical demonstration of skills such as nursing, studio art or optometry. Determining whether a course or a technical standard is essential to the program of study is a crucial step in determining what, if any, accommodations can be made.

Speakers: Jane Jarrow, President of Disability Access Information and Support (DAIS) and Scott Lissner, ADA Coordinator for Ohio State University.
