MCC's Third Annual Scholars' Day!

MCC's third annual Scholars' Day will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011. This year's keynote address will be given by Dr. Barbara Ehrenreich, world-renowned journalist, social critic, and author of the best-selling Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By In America, and Bright-Sided: How Positive Thinking Is Undermining America.

All faculty and students are invited to submit proposals for presentation, and we encourage faculty and staff to support and promote submissions from their talented and interested students.

Information about this event is available at the Scholars' Day website (https://web.monroecc.edu/scholarsday).  The application form can be found on this site, along with information about the event, including last year's schedule and program, and sample abstracts.

The purpose of Scholars' Day is to showcase work of the college's students and faculty.  Members from every discipline are welcome to submit proposals. Presentations may take many forms, including traditional presentations, panel discussions, poster sessions, demonstrations, performances, etc.

Awards for outstanding student presentations will also be given in the form of scholarships.

Scholars' Day is a wonderful opportunity for students and faculty to exhibit their work, to engage in intellectual discussion, and to recognize the outstanding efforts of some of MCC's finest citizens.  Last year, 36 students and 20 faculty presented on topics ranging from "The Contemporary African American Experience" to "The Geography of Wine."

We encourage you to take part in this year's celebration of academic achievement.
