Wolk Foundation Honored Nationally for Contributions to MCC

The Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Foundation is among 10 benefactors from across the country to be awarded the Council for Resource Development’s Benefactor Award for 2007. Represented by its Trustee and Board Secretary, Harold Samloff, the Wolk Foundation will be recognized and presented the award before over 500 community college development officers, presidents, and friends this evening at a gala awards banquet in Washington, D.C.

In December 2005, the Wolk Foundation gave $2 million to the Monroe Community College Foundation to establish the Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Center for Excellence in Nursing at MCC. It stands as the largest gift ever received by MCC Foundation. The Wolk Foundation was nominated for the award by MCC President R. Thomas Flynn and MCC Foundation President Brenda Babitz.

The ten honored donors have contributed more than $50 million to community colleges in the United States. They were selected from nominations representing donors who support nearly 1200 community colleges nationwide.

The Council for Resource Development (CRD), representing over 1,600 members at more than 700 two-year colleges, is an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges. CRD supports professionals and develops leaders engaged in community college resource development through education, advocacy and mentoring.
