Advising Professional Development Online NEW COURSES

Last year, Academic Services and Advisement and Transfer Services partnered with Instructional Services to create a series of advising workshops and videos to assist academic advisors. As we continue to follow the guided pathways model, it is important that advisors have the information they need to assist students and understand the tools available to support their work. Because we know that schedules are tight, we relied on the willingness of many people across the College to put their expertise and time into the creation of these professional development opportunities.

We currently have twelve different ADV workshops available online in Blackboard; take them at your own convenience and receive a certificate of completion at the end! New additions include Advising for Competitive Health Programs, Advising and Registering Current and Exited ESOL Students, and Introduction to Career Services.

Additionally, more than twenty short videos related to advisement have also been created on special topics; these include the points system for competitive health programs, introductions to each School, transfer credit FAQs, and advising for writing intensive courses, among many others.

We have additional full ADV workshops and videos planned, but if there is something specific you would like to see, please let Sally Dingee (sdingee@monroecc.edu) or Holly Wheeler (hwheeler@monroecc.edu) know.
