DCC Student Services will be hosting a webinar, “ADA Update 2011: Compliance Deadlines & Updates,” on Tuesday, March 22nd. The webinar will be from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. in room 5057 (across from the Executive Dean’s office). Join our panelists as they outline the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act as it applies to post-secondary institutions, detail best practices through case studies, provide specific strategies to enable faculty and administrators to provide reasonable accommodations, discuss the benefits and deficits of emerging electronic technologies, and present a check-list for assessing the ability of a campus to provide reasonable accommodations.
Participants will:
Receive an overview of the ADAAA and its 2008 revision and recent updates for 2011
Become more familiar with best practices for faculty and administrators
Become more knowledgeable about implementing specific reasonable accommodations in the classroom
Become more knowledgeable about specific reasonable accommodations provided by learning centers
Become more knowledgeable about specific reasonable accommodations provided throughout the campus
Be familiar with the accessibility options of such technologies as the Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle
Learn how to effectively assess your campus’s ability to accommodate students with disabilities
