CSTEP Students Attend UR Medical Conference

On January 17, thirteen students from the MCC CSTEP program attended the Student National Medical Association Conference at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Students heard an inspiring keynote address from Wakenda Tyler, MD, MPH, an orthopedic oncologist at URMC and met with current medical students. The conference featured sessions on preparing for the MCAT exam, conducting physical examinations with patients, and examples of work done in pathology labs. These students from the Biology, Chemistry, Nursing and Liberal Arts Health Sciences programs benefited from valuable hands-on experience and networking opportunities.

The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) at MCC provides academic enrichment and research experience in order to increase the number of students from under-represented groups who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in STEM and health-related fields.
