Inform Your Students: Income and Benefits that Students Should not Report in the FAFSA

There are some chances for many students to make mistakes when completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

For instance, there are certain income and benefits which should not be reported in the FAFSA. Reporting unnecessary income information in the federal application is a mistake to be avoided because these mistakes can be very costly, and may even keep students from receiving the financial assistance for which they may be eligible. As an example, students are not required to report Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or welfare payments.

The attached document will assist students in completing the FAFSA accurately.
