Aimee Calhoun, Linda Carson, and Mary Cameron presented on Saturday, October 5, at the 2013 New York State Mathematics Association of Two Year Colleges (NYSMATYC) Region 2 Conference held at Tompkins-Cortland Community College. Their presentation was titled "Octa-Tetra Constructions: Celebrating Their Beauty". The presentation described the Octa-Tetra constructions featured during the Mathematics Department’s celebration of Mathematics Appreciation Month in April 2013. The presentation captured three pieces of the project:
- Inspiration of the Octa-Tetra idea and how the project was launched
- The underlying geometrical and structural beauty of the Octa-Tetra design
- The highlights of the construction phase and photos of the completed projects as displayed in the Monroe Community College Mathematics Learning Center
The three led a hands-on workshop during which participants could construct a hub (star) from the Octa-Tetra templates.
