One decade, two decades, three decades, four... five decades of changes and much more in store...
- Much of the land that makes up the Brighton campus was formerly the Monroe County Penitentiary Farm.
- Past faculty member Otis Young co-starred with Jack Nicholson in the 1973 Oscar nominated film “The Last Detail”
- In 1970, student “unrest” at the Brighton campus triggered a response from law enforcement that would include the Brighton police and sheriffs office.
- With its first edition published in January of 1963, the Monroe Doctrine is MCC’s longest running student publication.
- MCC published a yearbook titled “Recall” from 1964 through 1971.
- MCC set a national record on June 25, 1965, when we received Middle States accreditation after only three years.
- A basketball team named the “Wildcats” was MCC’s first sports team and took to the court in 1963.
- The MCC Foundation was established in 1983 and in 2010/2011 brought in $1.97 million.
