Grading in Banner Survival Tip #4:

Grading in Banner Survival Tip #4:

Some miscellaneous items that have come up regarding grading in Banner:

KNOW HOW TO ACCESS YOUR GRADE ROSTER TODAY!

It’s important that you know how to get into your grading page, even if you aren’t ready to grade yet, before December 26. Right now there are a lot of people on campus to help you if you get stuck, the HELP desk, R&R office staff, your department secretary and chair, the Banner Self Service video and your Banner angel. If you have never looked at your class list in Self Service (I am turning a blind eye to the whole attendance input issue) and you wait until right before noon on 12/26 to do so, there will be limited resources and limited time available to help you if you run into trouble. We’ll do everything we can to help you get your grades in but when we have to close the system on 12/26 to run the end of term processes, there is nothing we can do if your grades aren’t in yet.

IT IS TOO LATE TO WITHDRAW A STUDENT

It is too late to withdraw a student (it bears repeating). November 22 was the last day for individual course withdrawals. There have been circumstances under which late withdrawals were processed, both from students and from faculty, but now that we are in finals week, there are no more withdrawals.

THE LAST DATE OF ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL ‘F’ GRADES

If you give a student a grade of F you need to also input the last day of attendance. We only need this information for an F grade or a withdrawal and NOT for any other grades.

A QUICK WAY TO CONTACT US

If you need to contact the grading staff please email us at HYPERLINK "mailto:gradenotes@monroecc.edu"gradenotes@monroecc.edu. We have several people, including me, reading, researching and replying to these emails. This email address takes the place of the NOTES portion of the hardcopy grade roster.

P.S. After several interesting replies regarding the issue of renaming the ‘www’ in web site addresses I have decided to just say ‘dubs’. That is just one syllable versus the nine in ‘www’ and saves me a great deal of time. Of course, all this extra time will be used to help you with grading and, if there is any time leftover, to make room assignments for spring. When it comes time for spring grading I plan to save time by just yelling random numbers, 1-4, to all faculty I meet, referring them back to this series of grading articles. Also, during this busy holiday time, I am ordering all my movie popcorn unbuttered and then sitting during the movie and stringing it, along with the cranberries I always keep in my purse, until the tree is completely trimmed. Efficiency is the ultimate high!
