Julie White, Assistant Director, DCC Student Services, presented her research on “Financial Effects of Work-First Policies on the Experiences of Low-Income Community College Students” to participants at the 28th Annual Student Financial Aid Research Network (SFARN) Conference in Philadelphia, sponsored by the Pell Institute for the Study of Opportunity in Higher Education, on June 3. Julie’s research highlights the need to align welfare policies with the community college mission, and the importance of support services for students transitioning to a two- or four-year institution.
