Channel 13 Promotes Internship Program


Patrice Walsh of 13WHAM News reported about the new Energy Conservation Internship Program, which prepares individuals for green jobs by providing classroom instruction at MCC’s Damon City Campus and hands-on field training in city of Rochester homes. She interviewed Jason Brown, a project coordinator with MCC’s Office of Workforce Development, and two program participants. Richard Sizer was laid off three years ago from his job as an operations worker for the City of Rochester. David Cernis is in a work release program. They are among the 12 Rochester city residents who are ready to enter the workforce when they complete the 11-week internship program today (Sept. 30) and earn industry credentials. The program is a collaboration with Action for a Better Community Inc., RochesterWorks!, City of Rochester’s PRIME program and Urban League of Rochester’s YouthBuild program.

The program participants will be commended for their academic achievements at a recognition event this evening. The event is scheduled from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Warshof Conference Center (Monroe B) of the R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center.
