Passing of Daryl Ellsworth, Facilities Retiree

I regret to inform you that Daryl Ellsworth, a retired maintenance mechanic whose MCC career spanned nearly three decades, passed away January 26, 2017.

Daryl worked at MCC for 29 years before his retirement in 2002. He began as a heavy laborer in 1973 and was promoted to maintenance mechanic I in 1980, occasionally assuming the duties of night supervisor and labor foreman.

In 1997, following a fire in the Sciences Building (Building 7) on the Brighton Campus, Daryl and his colleagues were praised for their “selfless, dedicated and invaluable assistance … as we in Facilities responded to what was probably the largest disaster ever suffered by MCC,” the Facilities director wrote in a letter that year.

Daryl was also recognized for his fine workmanship and attention to details in the construction of the MCC Foundation Office in 1983.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie, children Erik and Jonathan, three sisters, six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held on January 28 in Palmyra, according to his obituary <https://www.murphyfuneralservices.com/notices/Daryl-Ellsworth> .
