Foundation Provides Legacy Scholarships

The MCC Foundation surprised Legacy Lecturers Bonnie Connell and James Petrosino with scholarships to be awarded in their honor for the 2011-2012 academic year.  Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded, one by the Math Department and one by the Business Department, to students selected by their scholarship committees.

The Legacy Lecture Series is a new platform to simultaneously honor retirees and enable the college to benefit from the experiences of its most accomplished faculty and staff and is meant to provide the most respected members of the MCC community an opportunity to leave a meaningful, lasting message to inspire those still pursuing professional and academic journeys at the college. Upon learning of this new tradition at the College, the Foundation decided to honor the service and dedication of these retirees by awarding a scholarship in each of their names.

Professors Connell and Petrosino were presented with a framed certificate at the conclusion of their lectures on April 8, 2011.  Funds to support these scholarships are made possible by the generous donors—including Jim and Bonnie—to the Foundation’s Annual Fund.
