Human Services Students Continue to Make a Difference

Human Services students are required to complete an internship as part of their program. For many of these students, their internships are Service-Learning projects.  After completing the fieldwork requirements of their courses, four incredible students have continued to engage with the community in impressive ways.

Quiana Ogden started a highly effective program for teen girls at the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester as part of her Service-Learning last year.  She continues to facilitate the program providing services to teen girls.

Gloria Onderdonk began her fieldwork with Strong Behavioral Health in the spring semester and has continued with them this year.  She put in many more hours than required for fieldwork, and the organization counts on her as part of their operation.

Brenda Burch currently works in the community at large forming relationships with agencies and neighborhoods to meet the needs of the people in the neighborhoods.  She is currently working with Sociology Professor Tim Weider on an Urban Community project.

Shawnitea Thompson has been with Healthy Start Center for three semesters.  She is a valued part of their team and exceeds the number of hours required for course work.

Congratulations to these students and the Human Services Department as these students demonstrate their commitment to our community!
