Job Description Review Committee Completes Its Work

In June 2014, the Faculty Senate, Faculty Association, and Administration jointly established an Ad Hoc Job Description Review Committee with a charge of completing the following: creating a common template for MCC non-contract positions; benchmarking MCC's job descriptions against other community colleges and trend data regarding position responsibilities; updating existing descriptions; and establishing a review cycle for non-contract job descriptions going forward.  The goal was to accomplish this work within a year, but given the complexity of the process and the number of stakeholders involved, the committee's efforts continued throughout the 2015-2016 academic year as well.  Last week, committee co-chair Faculty Senate President Mark Ernsthausen made a motion to declare the work of the Ad Hoc Job Description Review Committee successfully concluded, and he was seconded by the other two co-chairs, Faculty Association President Bethany Gizzi and MCC President Anne Kress.  The committee unanimously supported the motion.

All three co-chairs wish to express appreciation to the committee members for their exemplary and collegial work throughout the past two years: Senior Clerk Tammy Dicks (who replaced Assistant Director April Hill upon her departure), Program Coordinator Kristy Mooney Graves, Assistant Director Michael Heel, Vice President Lloyd Holmes, Associate Professor Eileen Lanzafame, and Associate Director Taine Vinci.  As a whole, the committee also thanks the many College stakeholders who informed this work.  Responsibility for assuring non-contract job descriptions remain current will now transfer to Human Resources.
