Save the Date: 25th Annual Yom HaShoah Commemoration on Thursday, April 23


Twenty-five years ago this spring, MCC students began commemorating Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Yom HaShoah is a memorial day for the 6 million Jewish people and other victims of the Holocaust (1933-1945).

Please plan to join the Holocaust, Genocide, Human Rights Project in remembering those who were lost and the many lessons of the Holocaust that remain relevant to this day. This year’s anniversary commemoration will begin in the Flynn Campus Center and feature the following activities:

* Opening Ceremony  9:30 am

*Calling of the Names and Candle Lighting  10 am to 3 pm

* Local Holocaust Survivor Testimonies   10 am, 11:30 am and 1 pm. The HGHRP is honored to welcome back to campus Steven Hess, a survivor of Bergen Belsen and Westerbork concentration camps; Helen Levinson, a survivor of the Majdanek concentration camp; and Eva Abrams, a survivor ofAuschwitz.

* Keynote Presentation with Alan Moskin, a U.S. Army Veteran who participated in the liberation of the Gunskirchen concentration camp, a sub-camp of Mauthausen
