MCC electrical engineering technology student Chad Ruedin and MCC faculty members Laurie Palmer, associate professor of nursing and Kim Aquila, assistant professor of nursing, volunteered with Honor Flight Rochester over the September 11th weekend.
Chad served as his grandfather’s Guardian, Laurie served as the flight’s medical leader, and Kim served as a member of the Ground Crew. Honor Flight Rochester is one of 97 hubs nationwide that transport America's WWII veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. The goal is to help every single WWII veteran in America visit their memorial without cost to the veteran. Chad, Laurie, and 45 additional community volunteers safely transported forty-three WWII veterans, aged 81 to 92 years old, to view, not only the WWII memorial, but also to view Arlington Cemetery and the Korean, Vietnam, Lincoln, and Air Force memorials.
