In announcing a new White House initiative aimed at creating and expanding tuition-free education and training at community colleges, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife and community college professor Dr. Jill Biden cited Monroe Community College and its workforce-oriented programs as examples of how community colleges create pathways to the middle class.
Their essay, entitled
Why We’re Heading Back to Philadelphia Today, was published online on Monday, April 22. In addition to referring to community college as “America’s best-kept secret,” the Bidens noted MCC's efforts to partner with local business “to design new programs and courses that prepare students for actual open jobs in Rochester.”
As you may remember, Vice President and Dr. Biden visited MCC in January 2014 to highlight the college’s workforce education initiatives.
