Announcing the Future Educators Lit Club

Do you enjoy enthusiastic, natural, informal conversations?  Are you someone who enjoys exploring a piece of literature in depth?  If you answered “yes” to either question, you may wish to take advantage of the following opportunity.

Brought to life by the universal love of reading, the Future Educators Club proudly announces “The Future Educators (FE) Lit Club.”  Group discussions, framed within clear guidelines that encourage exploration of a literary piece through specific roles and responsibilities, lie at the core of the FE Lit Club.  For example, FE Lit Club members might take on the roles of discussion director, wacky word finder, travel tracer, super summarizer, passage picker, and interest investigator.   Focusing on different cognitive perspectives related to the literature reading and drawing on different intelligences, these discussion roles encourage fresh thinking!   Let the FE Lit Club set the stage for a fascinatingly creative journey through imagination and the historic past by bringing literature, authors, and the historic time periods to life.

The FE Lit Club’s first circle will read and discuss the essay “Walking,” written by Henry David Thoreau.
Access a freeware/shareware copy of this essay (https://www.transcendentalists.com/walking.htm) and then join our circle on Thursday, March 3, from 2:00-3:20 p.m., DCC, Room 5277.   We hope to (eventually) organize a monthly coffee house with poetry readings featuring special guests.   But the truly best news, you don’t have to be an EDU major to participate—the FE Lit Club is open to everyone!

All are welcome to join us on this journey through time and imagination.  For all questions regarding membership or other info, please feel free to contact us.
