Department of Education Students Learn About Economic Disparities

Students and staff from MCC’s Department of Education explored Rochester through the lens of economic injustices on the 13th annual Reality Tour. Led by Aimee Shaver, Field Placement Coordinator for the Department of Education, students traveled by bus to several locations in the Rochester area, with a message of the realities of poverty in our community. Some of the stops included the Rochester Subway, St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center, House of Mercy, and the neighborhoods of 14621 and Upper Falls. The tour discussions were centered around understanding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with a particular focus on hunger, shelter, and education.
