"Self-Knowledge — Know Thyself" Presentation (Dr. Alice H. Young Power of Diversity Series)

Fall 2015 Series Theme: “Wellness & Identity Development”

This year’s Dr. Alice H. Young Power of Diversity Series has already been a tremendous success! We have now directly impacted over 200 students, staff and faculty with two documentary viewings and two health and wellness presentations. Discussions have been rich and we have received 62 surveys conveying a resounding degree of satisfaction from attendees.

For our wrap-up, the MCC Diversity Council is excited to welcome Professor Kaba H. Kamene (NYSED Retiree, SUNY New Paltz faculty; and co-star, Hidden Colors documentary series) to our Brighton and Damon City campuses on Monday October 12, 2015. Kamene will discuss the role of cultural identity in the development of African Cosmology and explain the relevance of each of these for attendees of all backgrounds today.

* Damon City Campus Presentation: Monday, October 12, 2015 from 9:00 AM - 10:20 AM in the 5th Floor Atrium

* Brighton Campus Presentation: Monday, October 12, 2015 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center (Monroe B)

This FREE and open to students, staff, faculty and the Rochester community. We look forward to seeing you there! Spread the word, see the series description below, and the attached flyer for more details.

Series Description
Coming of Age is an adventure, especially for college students who are faced with balancing growing responsibilities and well-being while embarking on “…a journey of self-discovery.” This series aims to facilitate the process of Coming of Age and equip students with the tools needed to beat the dreaded "Freshmen 15". For remaining attendees, the series will also explore the value of knowing one's own cultural history, the importance of personal health and wellness, the interconnectedness of humanity and sociological development.
