HSMI  to Present at ACCC’s Workforce Development Institute(WDI) Conference

Monroe Community College’s Homeland Security Management Institute was selected to present the Community College Preparedness Program to interested attendees at this year’s WDI conference. The Department of Homeland Security approved curriculum was developed by MCC and four other lead community colleges. The program addresses three critical preparedness issues facing colleges and their faculty. The first module provides students and citizens with information on how to protect themselves, their families and property against all types of threats, the second module addresses sheltering and evacuation and the knowledge, skills and abilities to prepare for survival when a disaster events impacts them.  The final module provides students with information on how to access resources to gain additional knowledge about survival and how to protect themselves, their families and their communities during a  disaster event.

Interested colleges can request the adoption of this program after certification from attending a 2 ½ day Train the Trainer Program.
