Cuban Poet Manuel Crespo on Campus


The MCC Spanish Club, the MCC Literary Magazine "Cabbages and Kings" and the MCC Spanish Language Faculty wish to invite all to a special college-hour presentation by Cuban-born poet Manuel Crespo, Wednesday, April 9, in 5-100.

Señor Crespo will read from his own work, as well as from the works of Jorge Luís Borges and Rubén Darío. He will also discuss why poetry speaks to him, and will invite questions and comments from the audience. His work will be provided in translation, and there will be an interpreter available.

Manuel Crespo Vázquez has been a professor of French in his home country of Cuba. For his creative work, he has received several prizes and awards, among them the state prize Nestor Olloa, the Edad de Oro, the Caimán Barbudo, lauded in the competition Raúl Gómez García, and the Amor Varadero prize.
