Fairy Godmothers Need Your Help

Marjorie Crum, Visual and Performing Arts Department, is working with the Fairy Godmothers of Greater Rochester organization and would like to request help from MCC faculty and staff. The Fairy Godmothers of Greater Rochester is a non-profit organization where the mission is to provide a special prom dress shopping experience for qualified Junior and Senior girls with financial hardship. While the girls focus on the dress, the Godmothers focus on building self-esteem.

If you would like to make donations of new or gently used fashionable evening gowns, wraps, and accessories appropriate for today’s proms, Marj will gladly accept your donations.

Fairy Godmothers of Greater Rochester is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to identify girls in the Greater Rochester area who would like to attend their prom but may not have the financial resources to do so. The organization hosts a “Prom Fair” to supply qualified girls with gowns and accessories that have been donated by local individuals and businesses. Last year, more than 120 girls were helped through this program.

The third annual “Prom Fair” takes place on Saturday, March 25th at the Riverside Convention Center in downtown Rochester. For the first time, girls interested in taking part can pre-register on-line at www.FairyGodmothersRochester.com. Registration forms are also available at area high schools. Space is limited and certain criteria must be met for acceptance into the program.

Please contact Marj Crum (292-3147) or email her at <mailto:mcrum@monroecc.edu> to arrange for pick-up. Thanks.
