Newspapers, TV Highlight New Program at ATC

Last week, the Rochester Area Ford Dealers <https://rochesterareaforddealers.com/>  donated a 2013 Ford Fusion and related technical and computer support items to MCC as part of the new Ford Future Techs program.

This philanthropic program invests in educating area automotive students on the latest in automobile technology for their careers in the automotive technical-repair industry. This year, MCC was selected as the program’s first-ever recipient in the Rochester area.

WROC-TV attended the Sept. 1 announcement at Applied Technologies Center, and the Democrat and Chronicle <

MCC Automotive Technology students Michael Mottioli, who was interviewed by Channel 8, and Nichole Schuler attended the event.

“We’re so thrilled to be at the final stage of the Ford Future Techs launch – getting the vehicle and accompanying diagnostic technology into Monroe Community College, so the students can get real hands-on experience as they prepare for the field of automotive diagnosis, repair, and maintenance,” said Dom Genova, a Rochester Area Ford dealer and member of the Ford Future Techs selection committee. “There is a gap between qualified auto tech repair job candidates and the number of positions we’re looking to fill. We’re confident that Ford Future Techs will make strides toward closing that gap by encouraging interest in the auto tech field by giving students access to current vehicles and technology.”

The Rochester Area Ford Dealers will continue to update and maintain technology needed to work on and learn about automotive repair.  The dealers will also serve as an educational resource for students as they continue their career paths in the automotive industry.

President Kress stated, “Student enrollment in MCC’s automotive technology degree and certificate programs has always been strong. Each year, dozens of our automotive graduates leave MCC immediately employed in our region, ready to satisfy employers’ demand for highly skilled workers. We are delighted to be selected for the Ford Future Techs program and are excited to collaborate with the Rochester Area Ford Dealers in expanding learning and career opportunities for MCC students and enhancing their hands-on training with high-tech tools.”
