Building 5 and 8 elevator refurbishment to begin Monday

The good news is that the parts have arrived to rebuild the elevator doors in Buildings 5 and 8!!! They arrived Thursday morning a few days ahead of schedule. The bad news is that we will have to inconvenience a few of you next week while we install these new parts. But, on the bright side, the contractor has agreed to send two work crews to do this work so that they can be done simultaneously to get done sooner and cause less interference as faculty return.

Starting Monday, August 20th, both of the elevators in buildings 5 and 8 will be shut down. There will be no elevator access while the elevator door hardware is being replaced for obvious safety reasons. The work is scheduled to take one week. There may be some interruption the following week as final adjustments and tuning are done. (I'm not letting them leave until these things run right!)

A suggestion - if you have materials that you would like to move upstairs in 5 and 8, take advantage of today or this weekend. The elevators are still running.

And don't forget, various parking lot closures also start on Friday for striping and sealing. Look at the article in the 8/15 Tribune for more details.

Coming up soon - HVAC controls improvements and electrical system changes - Stay tuned!!!
